How to make a good survey

  • Write down the one decision the survey should help you make, and cut every question that doesn’t serve it.
  • Ask one thing per question. “How fast and friendly was the service?” is two questions.
  • Use closed questions for what you’ll count, and one or two open ones for why.
  • Put easy questions first and personal ones, like age or income, near the end.
  • Preview it on your phone, then send it to five people before everyone.
